A gym for everyone

Spartans Boxing Club Balestier welcomes beginners and seasoned fighters alike. Fun facts: boxing training is safer than running. Boxing training has an injury rate as low as 0.5 per 1,000 hours, whereas recreational running has that number jump to 10. According to research, annual injury incidence for runners can be as high as 56%. In contrast, recreational boxing training has a surprisingly low injury rate.

Beyond staying injury-free, boxing is a metabolic powerhouse. You are not just ‘jogging’ in a straight line; you are engaging your core, back, and shoulders with every punch. It is high-intensity interval training that burns more calories in 45 minutes than a steady hour on the pavement.

Open, convenient hours

The gym’s schedule fits busy lives: weekday mornings and evenings, lunchtime sessions, plus weekend classes. That flexibility makes it easy to book training around work or family commitments and still stick to a consistent routine. They also offer self-training for members who want to train in between classes during the day.

Varieties of memberships for every need

They offer unlimited training at an affordable price for people who want to train as often as they can; flexi packages offer flexibility for people who are unsure of their schedule and can only come from time to time. See package types here.

For those serious about refining their skills or preparing for a bigger stage, personal training is available.

Real coaches, real experience

With over 30 years of experience in Muay Thai and boxing, Head Coach Chris Sze has competed professionally at Thailand’s renowned Lumpinee and Ubon Ratchathani Wing 21 stadiums, as well as Malaysia’s Boxxtomoi events. A certified boxing, Muay Thai, and fitness coach, he combines his competition experience with a strong passion for mentoring, helping fighters refine their skills and reach their full potential.

Senior Coach Muhammad Solihin, a seasoned boxer with over 20 years of experience, has excelled on both national and international stages. He is a multi-time National Champion, a gold medallist at the Wilayah Barat Boxing Championship (Indonesia), and a bronze medallist at the 2013 SEA Games. Solihin brings both passion and expertise to training the next generation of champions.

Their expertise ensures technique-focused instruction and safer progress for all levels.

Classes that build fitness and skill

Spartans pairs traditional boxing technique with full-body conditioning. Expect fundamentals classes for newcomers, advanced and technique classes for seasoned practitioners, technical sparring for members who want to put their skills to the test in a safe environment, kids’ programmes, and strength and conditioning training, a mix that covers skill, cardio, and strength.

Kids programmes

Kids’ classes teach body awareness and non-contact boxing from age 4 upwards, building discipline, resilience, and self-defence skills in children. What is better? Parents can get discounts when they train with their kids.

Community, not just classes

Members praise the club’s community vibe: group energy, regular member events, and a supportive culture. That social element keeps motivation high and turns training into a shared, enjoyable pursuit.

Opportunity to grow

The Spartans Boxing League is an inter-club fight event conducted throughout the year. It offers a platform for club members to test out their skills on a safe and supportive platform. It is a springboard for aspiring boxers to advance to higher competitive spaces. Over the years, they have trained multiple national boxers.
