Meet Selemani Jawa, whose journey into entrepreneurship and healing began with a deeply personal mission—to help his young son overcome chronic eczema. This quest led him to create Furaha Naturels, a skincare and wellness brand rooted in purity, sustainability, and compassion. But behind the handcrafted products lies a bigger story—one of transformation, resilience, and service.

As a trained transformation coach and trauma-informed practitioner, Selemani blends ancient wisdom with modern science to guide individuals towards healing—emotionally, physically, and spiritually. His work is a beacon of hope for those seeking deeper change and holistic wellbeing.

Your motto ALSeFia—Acceptance, Love, Service, and Forgiveness—is at the heart of your life and coaching practice. How has this philosophy guided both your personal healing and your professional work?

Just for context, ALSeFia comes from the word “Alsafiyah,” which means “pure”, “sincere” or “chosen”—a blend of Arabic and Swahili, which reflects my roots. For me, it’s not just a motto, it’s a compass.

In my own healing, acceptance allows me to face painful truths, love gave me compassion for myself and others, service helped me turn pain into purpose, and forgiveness freed me from carrying bitterness.

In my coaching, these values create a safe and non-judgemental space where clients can confront their struggles, feel supported, and move toward genuine transformation. It invites people to return to their roots, rather than pursue surface-level change.

You have openly shared that your journey began with personal struggles. What was the pivotal moment that led you from searching for healing to becoming a transformation coach yourself?

During my struggle and transformation, I realised that healing wasn’t just about fixing symptoms—it called for deeper exploration and insight. It was about reclaiming my identity.

After years of experimenting on myself and those closest to me, I had a moment of clarity—I could finally untangle what was truly me and what wasn’t, and what it meant to live with peace.

That realisation allowed me to shift from survival mode into service. It set me free and paved the path to becoming a transformation coach.

You specialise in trauma-informed coaching and work with individuals dealing with stress, anxiety, and chronic pain. How do you help your clients uncover and address the root cause of their challenges?

Trauma-informed coaching acknowledges that every client brings a unique story, many of which cannot be addressed at surface level. I guide my clients to look beneath the surface, beyond just managing symptoms.

We explore hidden emotional patterns and resolve the experiences that shaped them. I draw from fields such as psychobiology and biodecoding, mapping symptoms to emotions or family history.

I’ve also developed frameworks like ALIGN, the Safe Hub Framework, and ITT (Identify, Translate, Transform)—a holistic approach that promotes deep healing, builds resilience, and rewires how the mind and body respond to stress.

Furaha Naturels was born from your determination to help your son with chronic eczema. Looking back, what was the most difficult part of developing a product that truly worked?

I didn’t have any formulation background at the time. The hardest part was going against doctors’ advice and having the patience to test, fail, and try again—while avoiding quick fixes like steroids. I tested countless natural combinations until I found one that worked.

Because it was for my son, I was deeply committed to safety, purity, and effectiveness. It was emotionally tough watching him continue to suffer while I was still figuring things out. Thankfully, I later found a cosmetic chemist who mentored me for six months.

From that point on, Furaha Naturels has carried products rooted in vivid personal stories—each product is inspired by someone real.

Healing begins the moment we shift our thinking from “What’s wrong with me?” to “What is my body or heart trying to tell me?” That single change in perspective can open the door to transformation and long-term healing.

Your skincare brand focuses on natural, sustainable, and handcrafted solutions. How do you ensure that every product aligns with your values of purity, care, and social responsibility?

We live by one core principle: we never sell what we wouldn’t use ourselves. I’ve developed strong relationships with my suppliers, and I personally know the backstory of 90% of the ingredients we use.

I strive to be ethical and empowering—ensuring that both our products and our partners achieve success. We carefully source ingredients with purity and sustainability in mind, and we know exactly how they’re planted, harvested, and processed.

All our products are handmade in small batches, where I oversee quality and purity myself. This is how we maintain integrity and long-lasting impact.

For people currently struggling with trauma, chronic pain, or eczema, what is one piece of advice you would give them to start their healing journey today?

Start small. Always choose compassion over criticism—and never give up. Whether it’s your mind, body, or skin, stop fighting it and start listening.

What’s your vision for Singapore in the next five years?

My vision is for a society where well-being is not a luxury, but a foundation. A place where conversations about mental health, trauma, and holistic living are normalised and no longer stigmatised.

Today, certain communities in Singapore still carry outdated beliefs—some believe mental health is linked to possession; others think you’re weak or lack faith.

My hope is that more individuals and organisations embrace resilience, compassion, and community as markers of progress. Mental wellness is not a weakness—it’s a deeper story that deserves to be heard.

If you could have a superpower for one day, what would it be and why?

I’d want the power to lift people’s struggles—just for one day—so they can experience what is possible. If someone could feel the weight of their burden lifted, they might begin to believe in the possibility of an alternative path.

That glimpse of freedom and peace could inspire them to continue healing. So yes, if I could wave a magic wand and give people just one day of healing, that would be the superpower I’d choose.
