What is Rainmaker?
Rainmaker is a values-driven business and social community founded by Richard Giam together with Clinton Zheng that brings people together to grow professionally and humanly. It’s less about pitch decks and more about real relationships: members support one another, share opportunities, and treat business as an extension of trustworthy friendship.
The LARKY values explained
At the heart of Rainmaker is LARKY: Love, Authenticity, Respect, Kindness, Youthfulness. These aren’t marketing buzzwords. They’re behavioural guideposts. Members are encouraged to lead with care, be honest about struggles, treat peers with dignity, act generously, and keep a curious, playful energy.
Why values matter in a network
Networks that prioritise values make better connections. When members consistently behave with respect and authenticity, trust grows faster and collaborations feel safer. That means less time vetting motives and more time testing ideas, co-creating solutions, and referring work with confidence.
Friendship over transactions
Rainmaker intentionally flips the usual “what can you do for me?” mindset. The default approach is: how can I help? Over time, reciprocal support naturally produces business outcomes such as leads, partnerships, and joint ventures. These are by-products of a genuine community, not the primary goal.
What members actually do together
Activities range from intimate peer circles and coaching sessions to workshops, social mixers and problem-solving huddles. Expect practical sharing such as case studies, referral swaps, and accountability check ins, along with lighter activities like dinners, creative sessions, and events that keep connections human rather than transactional.
Why invite-only matters
Membership is strictly by invitation to preserve culture. The vetting process helps ensure newcomers align with LARKY values, which keeps the group safe and productive. It’s not exclusivity for its own sake, but it’s quality control for relationships.
Who fits Rainmaker?
Rainmaker suits founders, senior leaders, creative entrepreneurs and professionals who value collaboration over competition. If you prefer long-term, trust-based growth and enjoy giving as much as receiving, you’ll likely find the community rewarding.
