Meet Kean Thai, a passionate health coach and pioneer of hydrogen therapy in Singapore. As the founder of The H2 Therapy, he has dedicated himself to making safe, natural wellness solutions accessible to all—particularly the elderly and those facing chronic health challenges.
Fluent in both English and Mandarin, Kean Thai conducts health education programmes across ageing centres, sharing simple, science-backed methods to sleep better, heal faster, and feel stronger. From lifestyle coaching to cutting-edge hydrogen inhalation therapy, his work is transforming lives—one breath at a time.
What first inspired you to explore hydrogen therapy and natural healing methods?
My interest began with my own health challenges. I was working in IT, sleeping poorly and trading NASDAQ stocks until 2 or 3 a.m. for years. My body eventually broke down — constant night waking, poor rest, and doctors saying it was “just ageing”.
Even when I rested, I woke up at 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. like clockwork. Only when someone suggested hydrogen therapy did things change. After a week of using it, I slept through the night. That convinced me to study hydrogen therapy more deeply.
I came across the book Hydrogen Therapy Cancer Control by a Chinese oncologist who used it to relieve pain and side effects in cancer patients. During COVID in China, doctors who ran out of oxygen tanks turned to hydrogen machines (66% hydrogen, 33% oxygen) and found patients with fibrotic lungs improved more than those on pure oxygen.
I also saw it help my mother-in-law with Parkinson’s — her sleep, mobility and tremors improved — and a friend with liver cancer who could stand and do tai chi after six weeks. These results gave me confidence.
I tried multiple machines, then partnered with a manufacturer in China who now also invests in our business. They run 200 shops there; I learnt their model and applied it in Singapore.
As an entrepreneur in the alternative health space, what challenges have you faced in building awareness and trust?
Hydrogen therapy is still new in Singapore. We’re now in our third year and remain the only provider. The biggest challenge is education. People are sceptical and ask, “If it’s so good, why isn’t it in hospitals?” The answer is that hydrogen is not classified as medicine here, so it isn’t on the list of items doctors can prescribe.
Over time, our consistent presence and results spark curiosity—many clients choose to walk in after observing us for one to two years. Social media has played a pivotal role in our outreach, with over 50% of our customers discovering us through platforms such as TikTok and others.
As we expand to more outlets, we hope mainstream media will play a greater role in amplifying our message.

First, have enough resources to start. You may not get rich, but you’ll at least be healthy. More importantly, serve with heart and tender loving care. Many seniors who visit us are lonely and need engagement as much as treatment.
You conduct health education programmes at ageing centres. What are the most common concerns and how do your teachings address them?
The two biggest issues are sleep and pain. Many elderly people wake up once, twice or even hourly to urinate at night. This disrupts their body’s healing. Others suffer knee, hip, joint, muscle or neuropathic pain.
We teach breathing, relaxation, simple exercises, lifestyle changes and avoiding screens before bed. If these don’t help, we introduce hydrogen therapy as an option.
Could you briefly elaborate on your 7 Essentials to Healthy Living framework?
I call it DEEPSh*tsS: D – Drink well (enough warm plain water). E – Eat well (less sugar, less salt, less oil). E – Exercise well (10,000 steps daily). P – Pee well (observe your urine). S – Sh*t well (healthy bowel movement). S – Sleep well (from 11:00 pm – 6am ). S – Sun well (get sunlight, stay warm).
It’s a simple lifestyle framework to healthier living. Question is, do you DEEPSh*tSS well, or are you in deep sh*ts?
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who want to combine business with a mission to help others live healthier lives?
First, have enough resources to start. You may not get rich, but you’ll at least be healthy. More importantly, serve with heart and tender loving care. Many seniors who visit us are lonely and need engagement as much as treatment.
We create a positive environment where they feel understood rather than questioned. If you love serving them, the rewards will follow.
Every entrepreneur or leader has a core set of values. How do you balance staying true to your core while adapting to market demands?
We take one step at a time. Our mission is to make hydrogen accessible to all, but expansion must be careful. We’re preparing systems to franchise and grow, while keeping service quality consistent.
What’s your vision for Singapore in the next five years?
For H2 Therapy specifically, I hope to see more providers. More shops mean greater credibility and public trust. It may even be like bubble tea — a boom and bust cycle — but the few who do it right will last. As a pioneer, I’m also working towards standards and regulations to ensure hydrogen therapy is done safely and effectively.
If you could have a superpower for one day, what would it be and why?
I’d be “Hydrogen Man” and go straight to the authorities to demonstrate how hydrogen therapy can extend health spans, reduce medical costs and be integrated into Active Ageing Centres across Singapore.
