Meet Jacinta, the founder of āyus – BodyMind Wellness. After running a successful chain of restaurants for six years, she had everything a business owner could ask for—growth, recognition, and a loyal customer base. But behind the scenes, she was burnt out, overworked, and missing out on life’s most important milestones. That’s when she made the bold decision to sell her business and explore a smarter, more sustainable model.
Today, she’s thriving in the wellness and network marketing space with Nu Skin, helping others reclaim their health and time. By combining science-backed supplements, skincare, and lifestyle support, Jacinta now empowers others—especially business owners—to prioritise their well-being while building a purpose-driven business.
What inspired you to step away from traditional business and move into the network marketing industry?
Back then, I was operating a chain of four restaurants. My aim in building any business has always been to create a system—a leveraged platform bigger than myself—so I could scale and generate passive or semi-passive income. That was my goal.
As I expanded from one to four restaurants, we had the systems and manpower in place, but I realised that with 50 staff under me, I was actually at my busiest. The passive income never truly materialised. I was constantly dealing with non-revenue generating tasks—managing emotions, handling internal conflicts, firefighting operations, supplier issues, and staff shortages during peak hours.
Although the business was doing well and had even won awards, I was trapped in a cycle of never-ending work. It was not the lifestyle I envisioned. I was working 12–13 hours a day, 364 days a year. My only rest day was the first day of Chinese New Year.
After six years, I hit burnout. I was too busy to get married or start a family, and I knew I wanted to move into that next phase of life. I told my husband this wasn’t the business I had imagined, and we sold it. That’s when I started exploring smarter business models—ones I could commit to building over time and eventually enjoy the rewards from.
The hard work and dedication would still be necessary, but I wanted a model that could eventually offer real leverage. That’s what led me to network marketing—it offered a fundamentally different path to long-term scalability and fulfilment.
How does Nu Skin’s holistic wellness approach integrate skincare, nutrition, and lifestyle for overall well-being?
I was introduced to Nu Skin by a dentist who owned several clinics. She herself had reached burnout and was in poor health. But through this business and its products, she transformed her health. I related deeply to that—I was in terrible shape after six years in F&B—so I decided to give it a try.
Nu Skin’s approach is based on proprietary science, especially epigenetics—how lifestyle choices can accelerate or slow ageing. Even identical twins, who share the same DNA, can age differently depending on their diets and environments. This concept fascinated me.
If our bodies can be supported and potentially even “reversed” from lifestyle damage, then there’s huge value—not just personally, but as a business opportunity too. I first tried their ageLOC products, and they really transformed my health.
They supported me through three pregnancies—no morning sickness, no complications, no gestational diabetes. My experience was vastly different from many other women I know. I truly feel blessed to have had the company’s science and supplements supporting me.
Can you share a memorable success story from someone who has benefited from Nu Skin’s holistic wellness programme?
Sure. One of my friends had a very difficult first pregnancy—she was vomiting all the way until delivery. After that, she started using Nu Skin’s ageLOC supplements to aid postpartum recovery. When she conceived again, her second pregnancy went incredibly smoothly.
She was so shocked by the difference—both during the pregnancy and the recovery afterwards. Now, she’s expecting her third child.
We’ve had many other success stories, including improvements in cholesterol and gout. My dad had suffered from gout for years. After just a month and a half on one of Nu Skin’s anti-ageing supplements, his gout stopped completely and hasn’t returned—despite no change in diet. He’s now pain-free and very happy.

A good entrepreneur is someone who is open, willing to learn, and not afraid to fail. You must be adaptable and willing to evolve—fast. Success isn’t about avoiding failure; it’s about using failure to find a better way forward.
How do you personalise a wellness journey for someone new to Nu Skin, especially if they’re seeking something natural and sustainable?
Every wellness journey should begin with understanding where your health stands. At Nu Skin, we use a non-invasive antioxidant scanner to assess your antioxidant levels. Based on that reading, we recommend supplements that aim to improve your score. If there’s no improvement within three months, the company offers a global money-back guarantee.
This scanner shows tangible before-and-after data, giving people confidence in what they’re taking. There’s also a fourth-generation scanner launching soon, which will give even more insight—measuring not only antioxidants but also gut, brain, joint, and skin health.
This scientific, personalised approach helps people take charge of their health naturally and in a way that’s evidence-based.
Many entrepreneurs struggle with burnout and chronic stress. What advice would you give them about tuning into their bodies before it’s too late?
Start with a scan. You might feel “fine” but still be showing signs of internal stress or inflammation. Burnout often stems from oxidative stress—caused by poor nutrition, overworking, and a lack of recovery. This shows up in depleted antioxidant levels.
Sleep is another huge factor. I personally track my REM and deep sleep quality. If those levels are poor, we can recommend solutions to improve them. Once inflammation decreases and you begin to feel better, you also gain clarity on lifestyle adjustments.
At that point, I often help clients reflect on their business model. Is it sustainable? Could they adopt a more scalable model, like a SaaS platform or network marketing structure, to reduce their load over time? These questions matter if you want to break free from the burnout cycle.
What do you think makes a good entrepreneur?
A good entrepreneur is someone who is open, willing to learn, and not afraid to fail. You must be adaptable and willing to evolve—fast. Success isn’t about avoiding failure; it’s about using failure to find a better way forward.
What’s your vision for Singapore in the next five years?
I hope Singapore moves towards a culture of proactive and preventive health. Healthcare costs are rising rapidly, and we have an ageing population. If we can empower people to take charge of their health before things go wrong, we’ll become a healthier, happier nation.
It will also ease the burden on the “sandwich generation” supporting both young children and elderly parents.
If you could have a superpower for one day, what would it be and why?
If I could, I’d give all the good-hearted people in the world the power to overcome their biggest obstacles—just for a day. Once our basic needs are met, we can focus on purpose and contribution. If more people could reach that stage, even temporarily, I believe we’d see more kindness, impact, and positive change in the world.
