Meet Qi Fei, the relatable and hilarious content creator who has won hearts across Singapore by embracing her authentic “auntie” persona, Auntie Fei. What started as a fun way to connect with viewers quickly evolved into a platform that bridges generations, shares everyday struggles, and spreads joy through humour and heart.

From live-streaming lift malfunctions to offering advice on bullying, Auntie Fei is more than just a character—she’s a voice that resonates across age groups. With a natural flair for Singlish and storytelling, Auntie Fei tackles everything from daily life mishaps to social issues, creating content that’s as entertaining as it is impactful.

What inspired you to create content using an auntie persona, and why did you decide to lean into it?

The auntie persona was a way to connect with my audience in a more relatable and humorous way. I wanted to create a character that felt warm, wise, and capable of sharing life experiences and advice—with a touch of humour, of course.

Was it challenging at first to balance your real identity with this humorous online character?

Yes, definitely. It was sometimes difficult to balance my real identity with the auntie persona. At work, I obviously can’t behave like Auntie Fei.

But as I started creating more content, I realised that this character helped me tap into a more playful and creative side—and it gave me the freedom to use more Singlish too!

What kind of responses do you get from your audience?

It really depends. Some treat me like a friend—we even chat in my inbox, and they ask me for advice. Others treat me like a lovable auntie figure who brings them humour and relatability.

Some even share their personal stories with me. It’s wonderful to see a small community forming around this.

What topics do you love covering most as Auntie Fei, such as gossip, food, or daily life tips?

My content is more about what’s happening in the news or in my daily life. Recently, for example, my mum and I got trapped at Level 1 because the lift in our block lost power. We were stuck for 40 minutes.

I went live during the incident, and everyone jumped in to help. Most comments were positive, although there were some not-so-nice ones too.

But this is how I interact with my audience, through real moments like this. The town council even contacted me after the video went viral!

I also talk about serious topics like bullying. I’ve shared advice encouraging kids not to bully, and telling those who are being bullied to speak up—whether to their parents, school, or even me. I want to create a safe and supportive space.

If I had a superpower, I’d want the power to stop bullying and war. That would be amazing. I’d love to bring people together, promote understanding, and create a more peaceful world.

How do you think your content helps bridge the generation gap, especially between young viewers and their parents?

A lot of young people find it funny and relatable. Sometimes, my son’s friends will see him and say, “Eh, you’re Auntie Fei’s son!” They even show my videos to their parents.

Then the parents start watching too. That’s how it builds a connection—through humour and relatability.

How do you stay authentic and relatable while playing this character?

Auntie Fei is just part of who I am. This is how I naturally speak with my friends. Of course, I’m more professional at work, but when I talk to people casually—like now—it’s very natural. This is me.

Do you have plans to play another character in the future?

Nope, I don’t think so. I’m very comfortable being Auntie Fei. Everyone already knows me this way and calls me that. I don’t plan to play another character.

What’s your vision for Singapore in the next five years?

I hope Singapore stays vibrant and diverse. I’d love to see more community events that bring people together. Like this month’s National Family Day—those kinds of events are great.

They get kids out of the house, encourage play and connection, and help people bond more as a nation.

If you could have a superpower for one day, what would it be and why?

If I had a superpower, I’d want the power to stop bullying and war. That would be amazing. I’d love to bring people together, promote understanding, and create a more peaceful world.
