Meet Dr. Queen JP (Janet Patt), the pageant winner of Elite Mrs Singapore Asia Pacific 2022/23. This isn’t just a title—it’s a powerful platform that inspired one woman to create The Elegant Encore, a movement for women aged 45 and above. Designed to promote graceful ageing, lifelong learning, and renewed confidence, The Elegant Encore helps women embrace their beauty, purpose, and potential at every stage of life.

Dr. Queen JP is also making waves at the upcoming World Food Festival, where she plays an active role in showcasing culinary diversity and fostering cross-cultural appreciation through food. The event is organised by renowned trader Collin Seow and top-performing TikTok content creator Angela Hou. Her life mission? 吃喝玩乐 (eat, drink, be merry).

What inspired you to start this empowering initiative after winning the title of Elite Mrs Singapore Asia Pacific 2022/23?

I wanted to gather women in their so-called twilight years—though I prefer to say 45 years young and above—to embrace lifelong learning, self-care, and joy. We can still maintain our appearance, enjoy life, and do meaningful things together.

Being beautiful is just one aspect. I believe we can all age graciously and beautifully—and most importantly, not do it alone, but support each other through the journey.

How did winning the beauty pageant transform your views on confidence, ageing, and self-expression?

Joining the pageant was truly stepping out of my comfort zone. Before that, I was an accountant and lecturer—not exactly used to being sized up in front of a crowd! But the experience was incredibly rewarding.

It exposed me to different people, helped me build confidence in public speaking, and taught me how to present the best version of myself—not just in speech, but also in poise, posture, and presence.

As the founder of The Elegant Encore, can you tell us more about the runway training and events and what kind of transformation do participants typically undergo?

The Elegant Encore can from an idea that originated in China and has gained popularity over the years. I’m bringing that same empowering movement to Singapore.

My aim is to gather like-minded women who share similar values and aspirations—to look and feel good while uplifting one another.

We offer grooming and personal development through makeup workshops, fashion styling, catwalk training, and even tech topics like how AI can support our beauty and lifestyle goals.

Many women struggle with self-esteem as they age. What advice would you give them about embracing their timeless beauty?

That’s a great question. I’ve been there too. It took a lot of mindset shifts and inner work. My advice? Acknowledge that fear and insecurity are normal but don’t let them hold you back.

When you make that breakthrough and start feeling confident again, it changes everything. That’s the experience I want to share with other women—to let them know it’s possible.

My aim is to gather like-minded women who share similar values and aspirations—to look and feel good while uplifting one another.

Looking ahead, what’s your vision for The Elegant Encore?

My vision is to gather at least 50 like-minded women to undergo a major transformation—both inside and out. It’s not just about makeup or looking pretty, but also about values, mindset, and how we live life moving forward.

Many of us are entrepreneurs, so we’re also exploring how to pass down our experience to the younger generation, helping them build their businesses more efficiently and meaningfully.

You’re also involved in the upcoming World Food Festival. What is its core mission, and how has it evolved?

The World Food Festival is all about introducing delicious food to the public. But this year, we’re doing things a bit differently. With a new investor and team, we’re expanding beyond comfort food to include premium-grade cuisine.

We want to elevate the experience—combining gourmet dining with vibrant networking opportunities, all under one roof.

How does the festival celebrate and promote food culture diversity across different cuisines?

We feature a wide array of cuisines from different countries and cultures—everything from nostalgic pasar malam-style street food to high-end gourmet dishes. There’s something for everyone.

We’re also introducing fine wines and premium alcoholic beverages. Beyond the food, the networking experience will be more curated, with insightful talks and opportunities for different business groups to cross-connect and spark fresh collaborations.

What are some challenges in organising a large-scale event such as the World Food Festival?

Definitely manpower and fresh ideas. However, we’re blessed to have the support of the founder of Rainmaker, Richard Giam, as a strategic partner.

With over 600 SME bosses in the network, we’ve been working closely with many of them—not just those in F&B or retail, but also across industries—to share insights, advice, and brainstorm brand-new concepts together.

What do you hope visitors will take away from the World Food Festival experience?

I want them to walk away thinking, “Wow, that was different.” We’re not doing the usual food fair. This is a fresh, engaging experience with meaningful programmes that keep people energised and entertained across all four days.

What’s your vision for Singapore in the next five years?

I’d love for Singapore to continue being the best food paradise. Ideally, we’ll also become a hub for international food brands looking to set up their base here. That way, our food scene becomes even more diverse and multicultural.

At the same time, as we enjoy great food, we should also promote healthy ageing—for both women and men. It’s about nourishing our bodies and embracing longevity.

If you could have a superpower for one day, what would it be and why?

If I had a superpower, I’d want the ability to rally all of humankind for one amazing feast. I believe food has a special power to bring people together.

What better way to unite the world than through a shared table filled with joy, warmth, and delicious food?
