Meet the visionary duo Felix and Ray behind Answered.sg, a dynamic platform co-founded with a mission to reshape how students and educators connect. Fueled by their shared passion for education and technology, the two co-founders set out to create a space where educators can showcase their teaching styles through videos, and students can find the right fit simply by watching them in action.
By blending accessibility with authenticity, Answered.sg empowers educators to build their personal brands and helps students make informed choices—making learning more transparent, engaging, and effective.
What inspired both of you to create Answered.sg, and how did the idea evolve into a full-fledged platform?
Back in 2015, we saw that technology had barely scratched the surface of its potential in education. We envisioned a platform where students could access video lessons anytime, anywhere—learning on the go.
However, the market wasn’t quite ready for this shift. That changed with the onset of COVID-19. The pandemic transformed the educational landscape overnight, accelerating the adoption of digital learning.
We seized that moment to launch our video-based learning platform, helping students continue their education despite the disruptions. Today, we’re taking the next step.
We’re building a holistic ecosystem that brings together our stakeholders—namely students, parents, educators, schools, and publishers—creating a connected community where everyone can collaborate, support one another, and unlock greater value in the learning journey.
How does Answered.sg address the challenges that educators, students, and parents face in today’s tuition landscape?
Finding the right educator has always been a major concern for both students and parents. Unfortunately, the current approach often relies on trial and error—students attend multiple tuition sessions before discovering whether the educator is a good fit.
For parents, this can mean unnecessary spending; for students, it can mean valuable time lost. Our solution is simple but effective: allow educators to upload sample video lessons. This gives students and parents the opportunity to experience a “free trial lesson” by watching these videos before making any commitment.
They can then decide, at their own discretion, whether to reach out and engage the educator further. This approach significantly reduces both time and financial waste—making the process of finding the right educator more efficient, transparent, and student-centred.
In what ways does your platform help educators build their personal brand and stand out from the competition?
Answered.sg provides educators with a platform to showcase their personal branding. Educators can upload video lessons that include their logo and a brief introduction, helping students and parents become familiar with who they are and what they stand for.
Over time, this builds recognition and trust in the educator’s identity. By publishing their video lessons on Answered.sg, educators are not only sharing knowledge—they’re demonstrating their genuine capability and commitment to teaching.
In this way, educators featured on Answered.sg earn a form of credibility. Their teaching skills and subject mastery are visible for all to see, which naturally filters out less qualified individuals.
As a result, having video lessons on our platform becomes a mark of authenticity—a seal of trust for students and parents seeking real, capable educators.

How has the response been so far from educators and parents using the platform?
Answered.sg attracts over 8,000 average monthly views from students and parents. Based on our data, around 20% of these viewers go on to connect with educators through the platform. We have received direct feedback from educators who have successfully gained new students this way.
This positive outcome not only validates the effectiveness of our platform, but also inspires our educators to continuously improve and create more high-quality video lessons.
As a result, our video lesson library has grown to over 150 lessons—demonstrating a strong, ongoing cycle of value and growth for everyone involved.
What are some challenges you’ve faced building this educational community, and how did you overcome them as co-founders?
As founders, we started without any background in IT—neither of us came from the tech industry. One of our earliest challenges was figuring out how to build a platform without the necessary technical expertise.
Thankfully, through my co-founder Ray’s network, we connected with two of her friends who work in the IT field. They generously agreed to mentor and advise us, with one of them bringing decades of experience and currently serving as an IT lecturer.
That said, it wasn’t as simple as handing the reins over. We knew we had to step up, bridge the knowledge gap, and learn as much as we could ourselves. With their guidance, we began a steep but rewarding learning journey, gaining the technical understanding needed to shape and grow our platform.
As we moved forward, another significant challenge was market validation. Many of our initial ideas had to be reworked—or completely scrapped—as we engaged with users and gathered feedback. As founders, we have learnt the importance of listening closely to our stakeholders and staying flexible, constantly adapting to meet their real needs.
What is your long-term vision for Answered.sg in the education space, both in Singapore and potentially beyond?
For now, our focus is on establishing a strong foothold in Singapore. Our goal is to become the leading educational ecosystem—one that is trusted and valued by students, parents, educators, schools, and publishers as a go-to source for support and connection.
In the near future, we aim to expand our reach across Asia, where we see vast untapped potential in the educational community. We believe our ecosystem model can bring meaningful impact to these markets by connecting stakeholders and empowering growth.
Our vision for Answered.sg is to become the “Amazon Rainforest” of education—an ecosystem where each stakeholder is like a unique species of plant. We aim to provide the right environment for growth, without interfering in how each one develops.
Just like in a rainforest, every part of the ecosystem thrives in its own way, but together, they create something truly powerful and sustainable.
What do you think makes a good entrepreneur?
If there’s one thing I have learnt, it’s that perseverance is absolutely key. Without it, it is easy to give up—especially when faced with the countless challenges and setbacks that come with building something from the ground up.
Equally important is staying focused. Along the journey, there will be no shortage of distractions and detours that can pull you away from your original vision. That’s why it is crucial to keep a clear focus on your end goal.
It serves as your compass, helping you stay on course and guiding your decisions as you steer the company toward where you want it to be.
What’s your vision for Singapore in the next five years?
Our vision for Singapore’s educational landscape is to foster a spirit of collaboration over competition. We hope to see educators, publishers, schools, students, and parents working together as one united community—supporting and uplifting one another, rather than viewing each other as competitors or stepping stones.
Instead of moving ahead individually, we should progress together—hand in hand—as a collective force for good in education. Singapore, though small in size, is globally recognised for its high educational standards.
If we can harness the power of collaboration and technology, and align our efforts with a shared vision, our influence doesn’t have to stop at our shores. We have the potential to bring our expertise to the global stage and make a meaningful impact beyond Singapore.
