What inspired you to become a food reviewer, and how did your journey into the food scene in Singapore begin?
My starting goal was to introduce everyone to the real good food in Singapore, especially the underrated ones. I started when my friend, who is a coffee shop owner, needed help promoting her food. I helped her edit two videos, and they actually went viral. That’s where it all began.
What do you believe sets a memorable dining experience apart from an average one?
For me, it’s not just about the food itself. The overall experience matters, including the ambience, service, and even practical factors like parking convenience. All these elements contribute to whether the dining experience is memorable. Most importantly, the food must leave a lasting impression—something that makes you think of that place whenever you crave a particular dish.
What challenges do you face as a food reviewer, especially in such a competitive and diverse food scene?
Negative comments online can be challenging, so you have to stay focused on your goals. Passion is crucial—if this is what you love, you need to go all out and not give up. Remember why you started in the first place. It’s also very time-consuming, with travel, food research, and video editing taking up a lot of time. Balancing all this is necessary to keep moving forward.
How do you maintain objectivity and authenticity in your reviews, especially when dealing with sponsored content?
I always research the food myself first and sometimes visit the place to try it before shooting. If the food is really not good or not appetising, even if it’s a paid sponsorship, I will reject it. Maintaining credibility is my top priority.
Besides relying on my own opinion and food knowledge, I ask my friends and family members about good food spots in Singapore. Again, I will try out their recommendations and if it’s really good, I’ll go back and do a proper food review.

At the start, don’t focus on making it big or getting sponsorships. Concentrate on creating authentic and meaningful content about genuinely good food.
What trends or changes do you see in Singapore’s food culture, and how do you think they will shape the future of dining here?
Right now, everyone relies on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram for food recommendations, unlike the past when TV shows were the go-to. There are so many food bloggers now, and before people decide on what to eat, they often search online or on social media. I think this trend will continue unless something entirely new emerges.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to become a food reviewer?
At the start, don’t focus on making it big or getting sponsorships. Concentrate on creating authentic and meaningful content about genuinely good food. Support from friends and family is important, and be prepared to sacrifice a lot of time.
In today’s market, especially with the prevalence of social media, it’s important to stand out. You need to do something extraordinary or daring to showcase your content.
Where do you see yourself, and what’s your vision for Singapore in the next five years?
I want to become a well-known food blogger in Singapore, someone people think of when they’re searching for food recommendations.
I also believe more young people in Singapore are aspiring to become restaurant owners, including influencers. Moving forward, I think there will be more unique food concepts opened by influencers or even celebrities, which is something I’m looking forward to.
